A while ago, a family member gave us this cake, and I honestly didn’t know what it was called. 😆

| Peanut Raisin Crumble Pie |
It looked a little like a pie, a little like a crumble cake, and the inside was dense and crumbly with a very noticeable roasted peanut flavor. There were also raisins throughout the filling, giving little bursts of sweetness between the nutty crumbs.
I really liked the combination.
Since I didn’t have the original recipe, I tried to recreate something similar at home. So this is not the exact recipe from the cake I received, but my own version inspired by its taste and texture.
The result is somewhere between a peanut cookie, crumble cake, and pie. It is buttery, nutty, slightly crumbly, and not overly sweet. The raisins also help keep the filling from feeling too dry.
If you like old-fashioned nut cakes and simple homemade desserts, this one is worth trying. 🥜

Peanut Raisin Crumble Pie Recipe
Pan size: 20–22 cm round pan
Bake: 170°C
Baking time: approximately 40–50 minutes
Ingredients
For the crust and crumble:
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 150 g butter or margarine
- 60 g powdered sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
For the peanut raisin filling:
- 180 g roasted peanuts
- 70–80 g raisins
- 70 g brown sugar
- 40 g granulated sugar
- 50 g butter
- 1 egg
- 40 g all-purpose flour
- 60 ml milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Optional toppings:
- Grated cheddar cheese
- Extra raisins
- Chocolate chips
- Egg yolk for brushing
How to Make It
First, roast the peanuts if they aren’t already roasted. Let them cool, then grind them until quite fine.
Don’t blend them for too long because we don’t want peanut butter. A slightly coarse texture is actually nice for this recipe.
To make the crust, combine the flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Add the butter or margarine and rub everything together until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the egg yolk and vanilla, then gently mix until the dough comes together.
Avoid kneading it too much. We want the pastry to stay tender and crumbly.
Reserve about one-quarter of the dough for the topping. Press the remaining dough evenly into the bottom and sides of your pie pan.
For the filling, beat the butter together with the brown sugar and granulated sugar.
Add the egg, milk, and vanilla and mix until combined.
Then add the ground peanuts, flour, and salt.
Finally, fold in the raisins.
The mixture should be quite thick. It will look more like a soft cookie dough than a normal cake batter.
Spread the peanut filling evenly over the prepared crust.
Use the remaining pastry dough to make rough crumbles over the top. You can also roll pieces of dough into strips and arrange them across the surface if you prefer a more decorative look.
Brush the pastry lightly with egg yolk if you want a shiny golden finish.
I also like adding a little grated cheddar cheese and a few extra raisins on top.
Bake at 170°C for around 40–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling feels set.
Let the pie cool before slicing.
This part is important because the filling will become firmer as it cools.
A Few Notes
I think roasting the peanuts first makes a big difference. It gives the pie that warm, slightly toasted aroma that I remembered from the original cake.
You can also adjust the amount of sugar depending on how sweet your raisins are.
And don't expect a soft, fluffy cake texture. This one is supposed to be quite dense and crumbly—almost like a thick peanut cookie baked inside a pie crust.
Personally, I think it tastes even nicer with a cup of unsweetened tea or coffee. ☕🥜
Final Thoughts
Sometimes the recipes I want to recreate don't come from a cookbook at all.
They start with something someone brings to the house, a cake shared by family, or simply a flavor that stays in my memory.
This Peanut Raisin Crumble Pie is one of those recipes.
I still don't know whether my version is exactly the same as the cake I was given, but the combination of roasted peanuts, raisins, buttery pastry, and crumbly filling comes pretty close to what I remember.
