  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 100 g cooking chocolate, melted and cooled

How to Make Chocolate Fruit Basket Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Prepare a 20 cm square baking pan by greasing it with margarine and lining the bottom with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Beat the eggs and granulated sugar until the mixture becomes pale, thick, and fluffy.
  3. Add the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder. Mix until well combined. Pour in the melted margarine and stir gently until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 30 minutes, or until the cake is fully cooked. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
  5. To make the chocolate buttercream frosting, beat the white shortening, margarine, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add the melted and cooled cooking chocolate, then mix until smooth.
  6. Once the cake has cooled, slice it horizontally into 2 layers. Spread chocolate filling or chocolate spread between the layers.
  7. Decorate the cake using a piping bag fitted with a small star tip to create a woven basket pattern around the cake.
  8. Arrange the fresh fruits on top of the cake. Refrigerate before serving for the best texture and flavor.

Serving Size

Makes 12 slices.
