Sweet and Spicy Sesame Sweet Potatoes (Ubi Manis Pedas) Recipe
1 kg sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into finger-length sticks
10 tbsp ABC chili sauce (Sambal ABC)
8 tbsp granulated sugar
50 ml water
250 ml cooking oil, for frying
1 tbsp white sesame seeds
3 cloves garlic, finely ground
½ tsp salt
Soak the sweet potato sticks in water briefly, then drain.
Heat the oil and fry the sweet potatoes over medium heat until cooked and slightly dry. Remove and drain.
In a pan, heat the water with the sugar, ground garlic, and salt. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
Add the chili sauce and fried sweet potatoes. Toss gently until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the sweet potatoes.
Sprinkle with white sesame seeds, mix well, and serve.

A Little Tip:
Choose clean, firm sweet potatoes so they cook evenly and become tender without turning mushy. Let the sauce reduce until it clings to the sweet potatoes, but don’t let it become too dry.
Enjoy this sweet and spicy snack while it’s fresh!
Happy cooking, and see you in the next recipe!
